“It is more blessed to give than to receive.“
Acts 20:35
Such a convicting thought by Rev. Billy Graham. 🙏🏻

#inspirationalquotes #challenge #faith #love
I’ve often been told by a very wise man—my father—not to ask, “Is this good?” but instead, “Is this best?”
Over the years, I’ve come to understand the profound wisdom behind that question. It’s easy to justify decisions by labeling them as “good.” But if we stop there, we may fall short of the best God desires.
One of my favorite spiritually minded writers, Oswald Chambers, expressed this truth clearly:
“The great enemy of the life of faith in God is not sin, but the good which is not good enough. The good is always the enemy of the best.”
There are countless “good” things constantly vying for our time, energy, and attention. But the life of faith doesn’t merely involve choosing between good and evil—it often requires choosing between what is good and what is best.
So how do we know what is best?

“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…” Hebrews 6:19a
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3
“Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things He hath done for you.”
1 Samuel 12:24

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”
1 Peter 4:12-13
“The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.” Proverbs 11:3
As I sat on the pew, Bible open, listening intently as the preacher read the passage for his text. I thumbed open to Revelation four, verse eleven as he quoted, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.” He asked the question, “What is your purpose here on earth?” I’ve thought of that many times throughout my life, as I am sure you have, too. It is possibly the most important question we should ask because when you know the answer, it changes how you live and how you think.
According to this verse, I believe our purpose is to glorify and honor Christ while bringing others to Him. Paul Chappell says, “Every one of us needs a reason to live—a compelling cause and purpose that keeps us going when we would rather quit.” Instead of focusing on myself and what brings me joy or success, I should prioritize honoring the Lord and glorifying Him in my words and actions. The crazy thing about it is the most amazing fulfillment and joy comes from serving Jesus.
I need to be intentional about making sure my life decisions line up with my purpose for living. If I understand my purpose, everything else I do will grow out of that. It doesn’t mean I cannot enjoy this life because the Bible says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…”. God desires for his creation to delight in our blessings here on earth- the beauty in nature, delicious food, a loving family, and close friends… and the list could go on. Still, I need to remind myself, above all else, that my life is to glorify and point others to Him. I want to be passionate about making Him known because this is my purpose.

Be encouraged,
Erin

Some moments are etched in your memory forever. This never fails to make me ugly cry. 😭
This captures who my dad is —always encouraging and knowing exactly what to say. 🥹

He has always known how to lift people’s spirits, speak hope into hard situations, and make everyone around him feel loved. ❤️

I love you, Dad. Happy Father’s Day! ❤️
@thebatesfam
Watching him be their dad is one of my favorite parts of life. 🥹
Somehow he can watch all seven kids by himself with more ease than I can. ☺️He knows when one of them is hurting, when one needs encouragement, and when one just needs someone to listen. No matter how busy he is, he always stops what he’s doing to hear their heart.❤️
He faithfully takes them on their date days, fills our home with laughter through his singing and animated stories, and makes each child feel seen, known, and deeply loved.❤️
One of my favorite things about him is that our kids genuinely love being with him. They light up when he walks into the room, ask for him when he’s gone, and never seem to get enough of their dad.☺️
He’s their safe place, their biggest cheerleader, and their favorite person.🥰
And honestly, he’s mine too.
The very best dad. ❤️ Happy Father’s Day!
There are a lot of things we hope to teach our children.

But above all else, we pray they know and love Jesus.

Everything else fades. That never will. ❤️

Charles, happy birthday (one day late)! 🤍
Watching you excel at everything you put your mind to has been such a joy. But even more than your many gifts, I love your gentle heart.❤️
You are the kindest big brother — always patient and kind. Watching you with your siblings is the sweetest thing to this mama’s heart. 😍
We all love you so very much. 🎉
