This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

We love the simple life — home cooked meals, watching sunsets with a cup of coffee in hand, and learning more about Jesus together.

We hope we can give you a glimpse into the heart of our home — the beautiful, and the sometimes difficult — and it will offer encouragement and support.

Ground Yourself in Scripture

“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”

Proverbs 4:20–22

I was caught off guard when my 5-year-old looked up at me and said, “Dad, we are so rich, aren’t we?”
My mind immediately began to race — thinking of all the things we don’t have that the world might use to define “rich.” In that moment, I leaned down and asked her, “Why do you say that?”
Without hesitation, she said, “Because we have lots of food, we have so many clothes, and we have this house to live in!”
Her words stopped me. But those are just the basics,” I thought...but then God gently convicted my heart. My little girl was absolutely right — and I was so wrong.
She didn’t measure our lives by the standards of the world. She was simply grateful for what we had. In her gratitude, I was reminded of how rich we truly are.
Scripture echoes her wisdom:
“And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” — 1 Timothy 6:8
In that moment, God used a 5-year-old to teach me a profound lesson about contentment. Instead of focusing on what we had or didn’t have, my heart should be fixed on the Giver of every good thing. I have Jesus, what more do I need?
As Paul writes:
“Godliness with contentment is great gain.” — 1 Timothy 6:6
This week, I’m taking the time to write down the blessings I’ve been overlooking. I’m making a list of what I’m grateful for — not just the big things, but the “basics” that are truly treasures. I invite you to join me. Grab a pen and paper and begin listing the blessings around you.
When we pause to see clearly, we realize we are so very rich.
Be Encouraged,
Chad

I’ve often been told by a very wise man—my father—not to ask, “Is this good?” but instead, “Is this best?”
Over the years, I’ve come to understand the profound wisdom behind that question. It’s easy to justify decisions by labeling them as “good.” But if we stop there, we may fall short of the best God desires.
One of my favorite spiritually minded writers, Oswald Chambers, expressed this truth clearly:
“The great enemy of the life of faith in God is not sin, but the good which is not good enough. The good is always the enemy of the best.”
There are countless “good” things constantly vying for our time, energy, and attention. But the life of faith doesn’t merely involve choosing between good and evil—it often requires choosing between what is good and what is best.
So how do we know what is best?

A moment we never want to forget. 😭 Being away from our babies has been harder than we ever imagined. 💔 Our hearts ache to be together again.

Recovery is not fast or easy, but we are deeply thankful for every small step forward. 💕 It has completely broken my heart to watch my Erin walk through such pain, yet to see her lifting her voice in praise to the Lord in the midst of it has been nothing short of inspiring. Her kindness and gratefulness she demonstrates to those taking care of her is nothing short of Christ in her. She has been a light wherever she goes.

Yesterday, Erin was transferred to a new hospital where a team of doctors is working together to help her improve. The nurses have been so compassionate and have become like family to us.

We miss our babies more than words can say, and we are so grateful for each prayer, message, and act of kindness from those who have reached out during this time. Your love is carrying us. 🤍

After a long and emotional labor, our miracle arrived.

Henry Blythe was born August 25th. 💙

Henry is doing wonderful, but we would so appreciate your prayers for Erin as she continues to recover from some complications.

We thank the Lord for carrying us through and for the gift of this precious boy. 💙
